The crusader cross cast within the pommel exemplifies the heroism and Christian faith that led Medieval knights through the Crusade wars. Solid wood wall display plaque included.<br>The Crusades created a tumultuous period when Western armies, fired with the crusading spirit, wrestled most of the Holy Land from the Moslems. For a century they ensured the effective governance of the Latin kingdom of Constantinople. They did not pay taxes or tributes, and they had properties all over Europe and the Middle East.
